Actonians fell to a 3-0 defeat away at Chatham Town this afternoon under a cloudy sky at the Bauvill Stadium.

The hosts led early on, as an absolute peach of a free-kick from set-piece specialist Ciara Hynes found the top left corner from what would usually be a crossing position, putting Chatham 1-0 up only five minutes in.

Little was created by either side over the next quarter of an hour, with Actonians growing into the game more as time went on despite Chatham still looking the more threatening side going forward. Vivien Ruttgers almost had a chance just shy of the 20th minute after pressure from Abigail Kargbo forced Chatham shot-stopper, Simone Eligon, into a scuffed clearance, but the forward was dispossessed before she could capitalise on the empty net.

The hosts would come close at the other end almost immediately, as a long ball to Amelia Woodgate saw them get into the box, but Olivia Clement was on hand to hook the ball clear from Woodgate's cross with Elisa Dogor stranded.

Very little else would happen for the remainder of the half. Ruttgers almost latched on to the end of a pass from Kargbo, but was beaten to the ball by a clearance from Eligon. There was a pair of breaks in play - 38th and 41st minutes - due to a tactical break and injury respectively. Hynes would also come close in stoppage time with an identically-placed free-kick, but this time her effort looped onto the roof of the net. Chatham led 1-0 at the interval.

Hynes would once again come close from a free-kick soon after the restart, smashing the crossbar from a much closer distance than the two previous efforts. Lois Colley was also forced into a goal-line clearance only two minutes later after a dangerous cross from Jas Auguste.

Chatham doubled their lead three minutes before the hour mark, as a 25-yard piledriver beat Dogor and flew into the bottom-left corner.

Another break in play soon followed as Clements stayed down following a foul that was controversially given against the Actonians number four. A substitution was made during this time, with Azwa Chaudhry replacing Nour Aboul-Kheir.

Unfortunately, the hosts got their third very shortly after as the ball wasn't cleared from a Chatham attack in time, allowing Lottie Sharp to dispossess and subsequently curl her effort into the top right corner from just outside the six-yard box.

Jennie Brereton and Kayra Karakus were replaced by Gabrielle Bishop and Annabel Fawcett in the 77th minute.

There wasn't much else to report on - shots from Ruttgers and substitute Madison Woodgate weren't able to pierce either goalkeeper, and the full-time whistle confirmed the result.
