What’s new with Actonians?

Tai Kolade21 Aug - 16:00

With the new season having just started, there are a few changes for fans to know about.

It’s a new season, and over the summer, Actonians LFC have undergone a small transformation, namely in our name. After petitioning the powers that be, Actonians are no longer a Ladies Football Club, and we are now proudly a Women’s Football Club. A small but significant change, Actonians WFC will be what we are known as going forward.

The new name is not the only thing that has transformed this season, as you may have noticed, our 1st team home ground has, too. Due to ground grading requirements, we have moved our home ground to North Greenford United. The family-run club has a welcoming atmosphere and will help us create a boisterous match-day atmosphere that will help push our women on for a successful season ahead.

We also have some new additions to the 1st team this season on the pitch. Please welcome Emma Walpole, Kayra Karakus, Claudia Cholakian, Roxanne James and Abigail Kargbo, who all featured in the weekend for Actonians. Last night further new signings made their debuts, Azwa Chaudry, Angie Dunbar-Bonnie and Gabby Bishop. We also want to shout out Athena Diachenko, who has moved up from the reserves to the first team this year.

Off the pitch we also welcome a few new faces, Loki Kapoor Parsons joins as 1st team coach while Lapo Saladini joins as goal keeper coach. Dominika Netschova also steps up into the assistant manager role.
Further staff members added are Soma Fershi as head sports therapist with Nessrine Ahmed and Sharon Grace Boska assisting her. Kyran Dadral is head of sport psychology with Marina Homsi in support. Maya Khalil and Jack Newell joins as analysts and Naoiki Nishida as club photographer. Zoe Draper and Tai Kolade also joins us on the marketing side. A big welcome to all of them!

The new ground is dog-friendly with covered seating and ample standing areas, too. There is a nice bar and a clubhouse with food and drinks available, so you can rub shoulders with all your fellow Actonians’ fans whilst enjoying all the refreshments on offer.

We would love to see as many of you as we can come on down and enjoy the new surroundings as much as we do. Tickets are available online for £6 for adults and only £1 for U18s. You can also pay with cash at the gate on match day. Programmes and club merchandise will be available to purchase at the games as well, so you can wear your colours proudly!

Our first game at the new digs will be this weekend against Fulham on Sunday, August 24th, at 2pm, followed by Chelsea U21s on September 7th, with kick off at 2pm also.

You can get your tickets to the games HERE.

Here’s to the new season ahead, Come On You Actonians!
