Our FA Cup Journey Begins
Our Actonians are flying high after topping our League Cup group and securing a place in the next round where we will face Swindon Town away on the 19th October. However, all eyes now turn to the Adobe Women’s FA Cup, where our campaign kicks off this weekend.
We welcome Ascot United to North Greenford United on Sunday, 5 October, 2pm kick-off. With one win and one draw in our last two matches, confidence is building and the team are eager to keep the momentum rolling into a successful cup run.
Actonians: Building Momentum
Last time out, we held AFC Wimbledon to a 1-1 draw, with Angie Dunbar-Bonnie scoring her fourth of what’s shaping up to be an excellent season. In the League Cup, back-to-back wins and a draw saw us finish top of our group. In league action, we sit seventh, most recently pulling off a dramatic 2-1 win over AFC Sudbury thanks to two late goals.
Our new home at North Greenford United is starting to feel like a proper base. While league wins there have been elusive, our cup form at home remains unbeaten — and we’ll be looking to extend that record this Sunday.
Focus on Ascot United
Ascot United may be a relatively new team, but they’re a club on the rise. Competing in the FA Women's National League Division 1 South West, they currently sit fifth in the table.
The “Yellawomen” are part of one of the largest community clubs in the country, with over 1,000 registered players and a clear pathway from junior to senior women’s football. This season they’ve recorded two wins, two losses and a draw, scoring five goals in all competitions.
They come into this tie looking to bounce back after a tough 6-0 defeat to AFC Bournemouth Women in the League Cup. That result will no doubt fuel their determination to respond strongly in the FA Cup.
